Wreck League launched in September 2023 on PC and mobile, and this hero character went through the full pipeline under my hands — model, bake, texture and in-engine implementation — with regular feedback passes alongside the rest of the art team.
Working across PC and mobile targets at once meant every decision had a second question attached: does this still hold up on the lighter platform? That constraint shaped the whole build.
Each character started as a high-poly sculpt to nail proportions, silhouette and personality, then went through a feedback-driven rescale pass before retopology into a clean, animation-ready low-poly mesh. From there: UVs, baking the high-poly detail into normal and AO maps, and a full hand-painted texture pass tuned to read clearly at both PC and mobile resolutions.
